Everything you’ve ever dreaded was under your bed, but told yourself couldn’t be by the light of day. They’re all real. (Season 1)

cis people stay out of trans discourse unless we explicitly ask for your input. its not cute and you dont get ally points for your comments.

being trans is a choice, but its such a painful one for me and a lot of people that i can understand not wanting to label your trans experience as a conscious decision when it feels more like something you had to become to survive. i think when people are angry about being told they choose to be trans, theyre not so much angry about being told they chose not to be their assigned gender, its more about them feeling like theyre being told they chose to be oppressed, rejected, and demeaned. the thing is that trans people do not choose to be oppressed - its just a shitty symptom of existing outside the gender parameters cis people have set.

so im okay with people saying their gender is not a choice, because for a lot of us, it isnt. it feels so natural being the gender you align with that its hard for some of us to separate our identity from our bodies or what we want our bodies to look like. but we really do have to acknowledge that gender is not biological and inherent because pretending it is only others us further and justifies cissexism. we need to make it easier on ourselves as much as we can, and the whole choice vs biology debate divides us when what we really need is to be united and in solidarity with each other.
